Good Food. Real Connections. Right Here in Ferndale.
The Family Meals Project is a new community initiative from Miracle Food Network, created in coordination with local schools and community partners to help families rediscover the joy of cooking and sharing meals together.
Every other week, a small group of families gathers at a local community host site for a relaxed lunch session — cooking a simple meal together, sharing the table, and getting to know their neighbors. Community volunteer hosts welcome each family, guide the cooking, and help make the space feel warm and approachable.
Sessions are currently hosted in the Ferndale area, with plans to grow into additional locations as the program expands. Wherever you are in Whatcom County, we want to make it easy for your family to participate.
There is no cost to participate. No experience required. Just a willingness to show up and share a meal.

About This Partnership
The Family Meals Project grows out of a simple belief: that sharing a meal is one of the most powerful things a community can do together.
Miracle Food Network has spent years rescuing food and redistributing it across Whatcom County. This project takes that mission one step further — not just putting food on the table, but helping families rediscover the joy and confidence of preparing it together.
We work in coordination with local schools and educators to connect with families who would benefit most from this kind of support. Our community host partners provide welcoming spaces close to where families already live and gather.
What begins as a modest pilot is designed to grow — adding locations, expanding neighborhoods served, and deepening roots across Whatcom County. We're building something that starts small and grows with the community it serves
